How payments work
Every API gets a gateway URL like /x/your-api. The gateway speaks x402, an open standard for paying over HTTP.
- The agent calls the URL and gets
402 Payment Requiredwith the price, token, chain and recipient. - It signs a USDC or USDG transfer for that exact amount and retries with a
PAYMENT-SIGNATUREheader. - The gateway verifies the signature and forwards the call to the creator's API.
- If the API answers successfully, the payment settles on-chain to the creator's wallet. If it fails, nobody is charged.
Sell an API
Open Launch, paste your HTTPS endpoint, choose a chain and a price per call, and enter the wallet that should receive payments. If your API needs a key, add it as a header like Authorization: Bearer …. It's encrypted and only added to paid calls.
Paths and query strings pass through: /x/your-api/v1/price?symbol=ETH calls your-url/v1/price?symbol=ETH. Track calls and earnings on your dashboard.
Pay from an agent
Any HTTP client can pay. With the official x402 packages it's a few lines:
npm install @x402/fetch @x402/evm viem
import { x402Client, wrapFetchWithPayment } from "@x402/fetch";
import { registerExactEvmScheme } from "@x402/evm/exact/client";
import { privateKeyToAccount } from "viem/accounts";
const account = privateKeyToAccount(process.env.AGENT_KEY);
const client = new x402Client();
registerExactEvmScheme(client, { signer: account });
const pay = wrapFetchWithPayment(fetch, client);
const res = await pay("https://apied.xyz/x/token-safety-scan");Use a separate wallet for each agent and keep only a small balance in it.
Our official APIs
Coin safety data we run ourselves, paid per call over x402 and only charged when they answer. Agents can find them through the MCP server too.

Limits and safety
- APIs must use https and can't point at private network addresses.
- Requests up to 1 MB, responses up to 5 MB, 25 second timeout.
- Each payment signature works once. A reused signature is refused.
- Agents pay only for successful responses (status below 400).
